The Landing of the Breitling Orbiter 3
On 21st March, 1999, at 6 a.m. GMT, the two balloonists, Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones, landed in the Egyptian desert in the Breitling Orbiter 3. After three weeks of what was to become an historic trip, they had just completed one of the most significant achievements of the close of the century. With this first trip round the world in a balloon they had accomplished, with six world records, the longest flight in terms of both distance and duration, in the whole of aeronautical history.
